Best Vacation: A Must for a Couples Romantic Getaway

3 Favorite Things to do on St. Simons Island

1. Relaxing on the beach: There’s nothing quite like spending a romantic day at the beach with your significant other. Spend your days lounging on the soft, white sand, swimming in the crystal-clear waters, or taking a leisurely walk along the shoreline. As the sun sets, grab a spot on the beach to watch the breathtaking sunset over the water, enjoying each other’s company and the peaceful atmosphere. While you’re in the area, be sure to also visit the Saint Simons Lighthouse Museum, which offers a unique look into the history of the island and the role that the lighthouse has played in the local community. The museum is housed in a historic lighthouse that was built in 1872, and the museum offers a variety of exhibits and displays that tell the story of the lighthouse and its role in the island’s history. The museum also offers tours of the grounds and the lighthouse tower, which provide a unique opportunity to learn about the lighthouse’s history and see some of the island’s most stunning views from the top of the tower.

2. Riding bikes around the island: Biking is a great way to spend quality time with your partner while getting some exercise and exploring the island. The island’s network of bike trails takes you through beautiful forests and marshes, offering a unique way to experience the island’s natural beauty together. Or, hit the beach and ride along the shoreline, taking in the fresh ocean air and stunning views. (We had so much fun doing this we forgot to take pictures)

3. Watching the sunrise/sunset on the pier while shopping and eating: There’s nothing quite like watching the sun over the water with your significant other, and the Saint Simons Island Pier is the perfect spot to do it. As the sun rises over the horizon, take a leisurely stroll along the pier, enjoying each other’s company and the peaceful atmosphere. After the sun comes up, head over to Delaney’s Bistro for a delicious meal – it’s a must-visit while on the island. (Our favorite for sure and worth the drive to get to it as it is a little out of the way) Don’t forget to also check out the local shops to find some souvenirs or beach gear.

Honorable mention: Staying in a vacation rental can make the entire trip even more perfect. Many vacation rentals offer more space and amenities than hotels, such as separate bedrooms, living areas, and kitchens. Additionally, vacation rentals offer more privacy than hotels, as you’ll have the entire rental to yourself rather than sharing common areas with other guests. Vacation rentals often come equipped with additional amenities such as outdoor grills, hot tubs, and private pools, which can be a nice added bonus. Depending on the location and amenities, vacation rentals may also be more cost-effective than hotels, especially for longer stays. This is our rental we stayed at and it was perfect. Close to the beach and included games and bikes to use! Here is a link to the home we stayed at. St. Simons Home

Overall, Saint Simons Island was a great destination for use where we were looking to relax, have an adventure, and experience the island’s natural beauty together. Whether you’re looking to soak up the sun on the beach, ride bikes through the island’s forests and marshes, or watch the sunrise on the pier, there’s something for everyone on Saint Simons Island. Don’t forget the Saint Simons Lighthouse Museum for a unique experience that you can enjoy together, and be sure to try Delaney’s Bistro for a delicious meal. Consider staying in a vacation rental for added space, amenities, privacy, and possibly even cost savings. All of these things for us contributed to a perfect couples retreat on Saint Simons Island.
